About Us

What is Voices?

Voices for Virginia’s Children is a statewide, privately funded, non-partisan awareness and advocacy organization that builds support for practical public policies to improve the lives of children. A recognized leader in child advocacy, Voices mobilizes support for initiatives by conducting research, developing policies, building coalitions, and helping people articulate their support for children.

Our track record over the last thirteen years is proven. With compelling, solid data in one hand and unrivaled expertise and passionate advocacy skills in the other, we influence and encourage decision makers to invest in programs that benefit both our children and our state.

We intentionally emphasize the multi-faceted needs of children and families--for example, mental health issues are inextricably intertwined with foster care issues. We also know by experience that intense focus for multiple years on a few key issues is part of our formula for success. Currently our key issues are: early care and education; foster care and adoption; health, including mental health; and family economic success.
